I’m sure that many of you have heard of the Stop Tazmo campaign, who received a lot of spit and fire for his business model of making money off of free translations, subbing, and scanlations. Well, we have had for a long time a new competitor, which comprises of online manga readers. The worst offender is unfortunately the most popular one.

It is no longer a [STOP TAZMO!] campaign, but [STOP ONLINE MANGA READERS]. However, this new campaign isn’t very efficient. Let alone possible. Why? These online manga readers can rake in over $3000, as in the case of MangaFox, who also owns MangaHere. MangaHere’s heinous crime is that it takes scanlations and watermarks them as theirs, claiming that MangaHere scanned it. THAT’S WRONG. That’s worse than our scanlating the projects.

These online readers also contribute to the worsening situation between the manga publishing community and our own community. Whatever happened to “for fans, by fans, for free”? Where did that go?

These are currently the hottest posts that addresses several issues in our hot spot of the legal world. How could you support this?

RESPECT THE SCANLATION COMMUNITY! That is the very least you can do as an individual.

Chinese manhua

I have developed a greater appreciation for Chinese manhua. Some are kind of annoying, almost as bad as those disgustingly sappy shoujo ones that I do my best to avoid now. There are still quite a few good ones with such complex, intricate plots it sends shivers down my back.

Vacation

I’m on vacation in San Francisco. I want to take pictures, but also don’t want to look like a tourist, even I technically am. At the same time, there aren’t many places I want to visit since I have zero interest in shopping for clothes. I am going to watch a movie today. It is the new movie The Green Lantern. It seems quite interesting. Apparently it is the fourth, or was it the third? Well, it seems interesting at any rate. Afterwards I will hang around The Castro. It was mysister’s desire when she was here last to partake in the Gay Pride Parade. She then wants to visit. I just want to eat bread because I like bread. I had some good crepes, too, at this place called Crepe Temptations, located on Judah St and 30-something Avenue. Pretty good for the price. I had the mochi with green tea ice cream. They serve Polly Ann’s ice cream, which gives them a lot of brownie points. I’m definitely going back!

…for which I am glad. I feared it would be like Tuesday, which claimed the same temperature. The absence of sun certainly makes a difference! I’m trying not to get my hopes up because it is still February, noted as one the coldest months of the year, whose degree of chill is especially notable in temperate zones. However, there is a possibility that this odd weather is attributable to eccentricities in the global weather patterns, regardless of the cause of such eccentricities. I will be trying to enjoy this weather as much as possible in the meantime! (I did hear that the snow has one last gasp in store, but really, it may as well give way to the inevitable; here’s to hoping for another long spring!)

Long absences in my journal generally means little to say, or that I’mtoo busy to drop a line. I’m trying to get into more of a writing habit so I can add more stories to my other WordPress blog and essays to my LiveJournal, or the other way around. I’m starting to like the idea of getting an InsaneJournal for the communities it offers, however small they may be, but I am comfortable with my three blogs now. WordPress has an excellent platform already, and LJ satisfies my community needs.

I havd a one idea for a fanfic in mind. The difficult part is puttimg those thoughts and impressions into words with a complete storyline. After all, I don’t want to turn out like Kishimoto’s work!

These People

Sometimes, I wonder if there really is mental derangement of people who live on the streets. Is it merely disappointment and mistrust towards life (or towards people have a want or need filled nearly effortlessly)? It is saddening to see people wander, stand, and sit aimlessly, their assemblage built through great care…Yet, I am also revolted; disgusted. I look at these people, and wonder why they aren’t doing something more profitable. Is there mental illness not born from living on the streets, but from their unwillingness to work? I’ve been working, trying to make money since I was eight. No, I didn’t win grand or nifty scholarships that were doubtlessly available even to a youngster, but put in my sweat, my energies, and my sacrifices I feared the insecurity of the future, and was determined to work to get the funds that were lacking in my childhood; I couldn’t enjoy having fun as a child, but devoted my energies to work, school, and the future. Yet these scoundrels decide to take it upon themselves to exploit people of they’re hard-earned fruitage. No, I bear no grudge against giving, but there is a fine line between begging and exploiting. I often don’t know if these people standing around aimlessly really ARE homeless!

Winter Wonderland

This winter has been surprisingly warm, but I mean “warm” in a relative sense considering the current temperature in comparison to other places right now. Nevertheless, I am glad for it. It is easier for me to get around on public transportation when it is warmer and not under harsh conditions.

Frustration

Whenever I leave something to be in this house outside of my room, it disappears. When I first notice, I don’t say anything because I believe I know who may have moved. If I need it, I do make an effort to find it myself, but eventually give up and use an alternative. However, what happens is that the item is lost forever. How can someone lose a large item within the house? The incident today is one of many, and is one of the contributing reasons for my bad relationship with my family. I say, “Don’t touch myself.” If it is gone, who else could have touched it?

Falling Water

Most of us are familiar with the architectual achievement of Frank Lloyd Wright, namely for his Fallimg Water design at the East Coast. It is renown for its integration into the cliff where a waterfall is, the source of the name. Just as that waterfall tumbled in torrents, so does the torrential rain drench any and all. “It’s raining cats and dogs” isn’t enough; it is as if the entire heavens have decided to take a relieving bathroom break. And we poor things of dirt and mud are beaten down in the process. I recall in older days, he etiqutte of a visit required beginning discussing weather, moving on to inquire of health, etc. Certain areas had much to consider regarding unpredictable weather considering the people’s frail health. My own oscillating weather can also sustain a lengthy conversation!

But yes, it isn’t raining, per se, but water is falling in tireless succeeding waves.
